Want to become your best self but don’t know where to start? I felt that way for so long; trying to improve just stressed me out, and I saw no results. After so many years of trying, I finally decided to go to therapy, searching for an immediate solution. However, the solution was not immediate; it took me years to understand my body and mind. Today, I will share three life changing habits that are key to the process of Self improvement for women. When I started to focus on these habits, I saw a real change in my life:



Life Changing Habits / Buenos Habitos

1. Physical Habits: / Habitos Fisicos

Healthy physical habits are the starting point for your process to bring up the best of you. These life changing habits improve your body’s energy so you can accomplish the tasks required to have a successful day and a balanced life.



When I started my personal growth journey, I never saw physical habits as relevant, but realizing that my body is the one that actually performs all the tasks and duties I need to do in order to accomplish my goals led me to perceive these habits as important as they are.



The main physical habits that I incorporated into my lifestyle are:

a) Drinking water / Tomar Agua

Keeping ourselves hydrated can enhance brain functionality, boost our levels of energy, and improve our mood.  


b) Exercising / Ejercicio

Exercising for at least 20 min daily can help us to get deeper and restful sleep, lower our stress levels, and improve our frame of mind.



c) Eating Healthy / Comer Saludable

I’m not talking about making an extreme diet, but changing small eating habits can provide important nutrients for our brain functionality. It also helps our nervous system stay healthy, ensuring proper connection between our brain and the rest of our body, as well as a positive impact on our mood.

2. Mental Habits / Habitos Mentales

Maintaining healthy habits is the next step in the process of self improvement for women. These habits are the ones that will keep us motivated and give us strength to continue working on ourselves, even when we feel down. In the beginning, I used to think these were the only habits that would lead me to achieve my goals and become my best self. However, these habits alone didn’t give me the results I wanted. We must understand these types of habits as complementing each other in order to see actual results in our lives.



The main mental habits that support my process include:


a) Practicing gratitude: Practicar Gratitud

Starting our day with a gratitude journal enables our positive focus, reminding us why we get up every morning and motivates us to keep going.



b)Prioritizing yourself: Priorizarte a ti misma

c) Connecting with yourself: Conectar con nosotras mismas

Connecting with ourselves can help us become more self-aware, allowing us to recognize our own needs and leading to less stress and a better sense of well-being. I explain more about this topic in my post Benefits of Connecting with yourself

3. Affective Habits / Habitos Affectivos

Affective habits are those that involve feelings and emotions towards ourselves. These habits are like the cherry on top of the cake. They can help us understand better our emotions. Understanding our emotions allows us to manage them better, leading to less stress. As a result, you will respond effectively to challenges during your day. This creates a positive impact on our process of becoming our best version. The affective habits that play an important role in my personal growth journey include:



a) Self-Love / Amor Propio

Practicing self-love allowed me to become aware of my flaws without judging them and to accept and embrace my strengths. Self Love opened my mind to change and self-improvement



b) Self-Care: Autocuidado

Taking care of ourselves is necessary to recharge our energy. Self-care is important to effectively manage stress and to feel capable of achieving your goals.



c) Self-Respect: Auto Respeto

Self-respect allows us to set proper boundaries to achieve our goals; self-respect enables our decision-making to be more aligned with our values. During my personal growth journey, I learned to see these habits as a guide to becoming my best version. Perceiving these steps as the whole process and not as the individual process is what provides us with the actual results and changes we want to see in our lives.



In conclusion, the three main types of habits that will guide your personal growth process are physical, mental, and affective habits. These three habits complement each other and create a practical guide to strengthen your body, mind, and soul. I started seeing results in my personal growth journey when I intentionally focused on the abovementioned habits.
